DAY 1

Binga, Lake Kariba

OVERNIGHT: HIDEAWAYS SOVEREIGN HOUSEBOAT

Start your Lake Kariba Houseboat safari by boarding your houseboat in Binga. You will enjoy a light lunch while we cruise towards the Sengwe Basin, Lake Kariba. The stunning scenery of the Sengwe River system forms the backdrop to the afternoon’s exploration in our smaller pontoon boats. The Sengwe is famed for its great birding, excellent water bird sightings and many raptors including the rare Pel’s Fishing Owl and Black Eagle. It is also home to large populations of hippo and crocodile. You will return to Sengwe River mouth and experience your first Lake Kariba sunset, an unforgettable experience. Dinner is served on board this evening.

DAY 2

Sengwe Basin to Elephant Bay

OVERNIGHT: HIDEAWAYS SOVEREIGN HOUSEBOAT

After a light breakfast you will set off for game and bird viewing from the pontoons, one of the many highlights of your Sengwe River Cruise. You could also try fishing on Lake Kariba for the famed Tiger Fish or the indigenous Kariba Bream. We return to the vessel for lunch while we cruise to Hondwa Bay. An incredible afternoon will be spent game viewing and exploring the Hondwa Bay. We discover its inlets, sandy beaches and flood plain where you’re likely to spot a thrilling variety of larger mammals. You will experience another extraordinary sunset from your pontoon while enjoying refreshing drinks and snacks. Dinner will be a delicious beach barbeque on the shore of Lake Kariba. A very special experience and undoubtedly one of the best places for stargazing in Africa. Another remarkable day on your Lake Kariba cruise comes to an end.

DAY 3

Elephant Bay

OVERNIGHT: HIDEAWAYS SOVEREIGN HOUSEBOAT

You have the option of doing a game and bird viewing cruise on Lake Kariba in the pontoons or go on an exciting, guided nature walk of approximately 2 hours. Lunch is enjoyed on the houseboat while we make our way to Elephant Bay. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy the onboard facilities. One of Elephant Bay’s many islands is our mooring spot for the last night, and the last opportunity for a guided walk. We save the best Kariba sunset for last with uninterrupted views across the lake to the mountains of Zambia.
