Miombo Presentation: 

Miombo Safari Lodge is nestled amongst trees on the edge of the world-renowned Hwange National Park, Miombo Elephant Camp & Little Miombo (a sister Camp) provide a relaxed & charming safari destination less than 2 hours’ drive from Victoria Falls. Miombo is the closest lodge to the private tour operator access gate into Hwange National Park.

The name stems from the regular nightly visits by elephant to the waterhole, often within metres of the platform suites & popular viewing deck.

Little Miombo is adjacent to Miombo Safari Camp & can be used as an independent self-catering camp or in conjunction with Elephant Camp.  The two camps share facilities such as the swimming pool & viewing deck.

is an area for overland tourist trucks & campers with simple facilities & ablutions. 
Campers are welcome to have meals at Miombo Safari Camp.

Miombo Safari Camp is nestled amongst trees on the edge of the world-renowned Hwange National Park,

The Camp is located just outside the Hwange National Park, on the tar road between the local town Dete and the Main park entrance. It is only a few kilometres from the National Park boundary and as Hwange has no boundary fences, wildlife moves in and out of the park freely.

Miombo being positioned so close to the boundary means that game can and does move through their private concession, with elephants, buffalo and on occasion the resident lion pride coming to drink at the waterhole in front of the camp.

• 7 Elevated en-suite tented suites overlooking the private waterhole

• 1 Family unit which is part of the main building

• 8 identical spacious en-suite tents ideal for small groups
• A large tented lounge/dining-room & bar
• Private waterhole

All rooms have:

• En-suite bathrooms with flush toilet and shower
• Wardrobe or storage space
• Veranda with chairs and table (elevated suites only)
• Mosquito nets

Miombo Camp Site

The Camp has a thatched main lounge, dining area, bar, social firepit, swimming pool & a raised viewing deck overlooking a private waterhole.

It is rates are cheaper than many of the other camps

• Self-drive: 300kms from Bulawayo or 200kms from Victoria Falls
• Fly-in: Hwange Airport is 10 minutes from Miombo Safari Camp and is accessible via road transfer.

Children

• Children are welcome.
• Children 3 years and under stay free. Children 4 to 11 pay 30%, and children 12 to 16 pay 50% of the adult rate. 17 years olds and older are considered adults.
• Only 1 child sharing with an adult permitted in each room.

Status

Miombo Safari Camp and its sister Little Miombo rates are cheaper than many of the other camps which makes it a perfect choice for people on a tighter budget. The trade-off is that it is not in a prime location and one has to travel into the Park for a full safari experience.

Hence this camp for clients on a tighter budget who are not concerned with the bells and whistles but to still want to get to see and experience Hwange. The camp does offer game drives in its own safari vehicles but this camp is ideal for self-drive tourists - half- and full-board options are available.

Advantages

• Close to main road, Hwange Main Camp, and Hwange Airport - easily accessible
• A range of accommodation available from cheap thatched chalets to more expensive elevated     tents
• An easy drive from either Bulawayo or Victoria Falls

Disadvantages

• Not in a prime location - a full safari experience can only be had by driving into Hwange National Park, although the entrance to the park is only 20 kilometres from Miombo Camp

This combination safari program can commence on any day of any week from July 01st 2022, until March 31st, 2023, it is priced based on two guests travelling together, sharing the same room.
