It’s one of the few ‘bush camp’ type accommodation experiences left around Victoria Falls with our chalets open to the breezes and birdsong.
2. The proximity to Victoria Falls
We are close enough to the Falls to access all the exciting activities but far enough to keep that remote and tranquil bush experience.
3. The breathtaking views
We can arrange all your Victoria Falls activities and our viewpoint over rapid 16 and rapid 17 means those who prefer to skip the rafting to take in the views can watch the thrills and spills in the gorge below.
Activities at or close to the lodge
Walking Tours of Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls is a waterfall located on the Zambezi River, on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. It is one of the largest waterfalls in the world, and is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. The local Tonga people call it “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” which means “The Smoke That Thunders.” The falls are approximately 1.7 kilometers wide and have a height of around 108 meters. The mist created by the falls can be seen from a great distance, and they are a popular tourist attraction in southern Africa. Chat to us on whatsAPP if you would like to pre-book this activities
Zambezi Gorge Walks
Walk through ancient indigenous forests and down 230m into the dramatic gorge, next to the Zambezi River rapids.
Devils Pool / Visits to Livingstone Island
Devil’s Pool is located on the edge of Victoria Falls and is known for its breathtaking views. During the dry season when the water levels are low, visitors can swim in the pool, which is protected by a natural rock barrier.
White Water Rafting
The Zambezi River is widely considered to be the very best White Water Rafting river in the world. A deep channeled, high volume river, the Zambezi has class 3 – 5 rapids interspersed with tranquil pools. And if rafting doesn’t appeal you, you can always opt for the more relaxing option of sitting on the Taita deck and watching the rafters go by!
Birding Walks
Look out for the many species of birds, including a variety of raptors that flutter throughout the camp and soar the surrounding skies.
Microlight Flight Soar above one of the world’s most spectacular waterfalls on this helicopter flight over Victoria Falls. Fly up the Zambezi River and past the Batoka Gorge on your chosen 12-13 or 25-27 minute flight.
Activities which are offered a bit further away from the lodge Depending on the duration of your stay and whether you have the time, we highly recommend you try the following activities.
Sunset Cruises
See Victoria Falls in its best light on this Zambezi River sunset cruise. Choose your level of luxury, from the standard tour with onboard hors d’oeuvres and drinks to the signature upper-deck experience—both come with the same amazing views of the sunset and quality service.
Elephant Cafe
The Elephant Café is a unique dining experience, where you can enjoy a meal while interacting with rescued elephants.
Instead of the typical “brick and aircon” structures so typically found in the area, our chalets are built in the Zambian bush camp style – natural materials and open air.
This open-air style of the chalets keep you connected to the wild so that you can hear the river and birds and feel the air moving around you.

Popular features of the Taita Falcon Lodge chalets
Our bush camp style chalets are constructed with natural materials on a screed floor slab. Set back a bit from the lip of the gorge for safety, each chalet has its own piece of natural bush and a ‘gorge pod’ to take in the views with a cup of coffee or G n’ T.
The chalet style
Being made of natural materials and open, you really feel like you are part of the wilderness. Bird song, the sound of the Zambezi rapids and the seasonal breezes are all part of the experience.
The viewing ‘spots’
Our simple little pods in the front of each chalet are like little nests for quiet moments in front of breath-taking views.
The central area
Our fire pit, central dining area and bar is a place to gather with friends and family for meals, stories and a chance to spot the falcons or Verreaux’s Eagles soaring in front of the lodge.
