After falling in love with the Busanga Plains, we built Chisa Busanga Camp to mimic its surrounds through beautiful architecture and environmentally conscious design.
Chisa is the Nyanja word for ‘birds nest’, and the rooms were inspired by the weaver bird nests that decorate the trees here. Sitting on a small tree-lined island, the camp uses only solar power as do the game drive vehicle and bicycles used to explore the watery dambos beyond.
Chisa Busanga Camp celebrates the natural and cultural heritage of the Busanga Plains, a place that will leave an indelible imprint on your mind, as it has on ours.
Chisa Busanga camp is located in the heart the Kafue National Park’s Busanga Plains, overlooking vast flood plains and dambos that teem with wildlife.
Built in a great location, on a small tree-island close to the centre of the Busanga Plains, Chisa is small, smart and innovative - both in its design and your activities.
Rooms ( Nets) -Tented tents
Inspired by the stunning surroundings the rooms are all built like a nest up in the tree canopy! With thatched walls you can snuggle up in your very own birdhouse with views across the plains! The design makes you feel like Tarzan of the jungle or as if you are in a raised hide, allowing for prime wildlife viewing. Of course this is a bucket list experience for birders! We love the unusual concept, making the wilderness feel even more wild!
The Nets ( sleeps 2 )
This bushcamp's four tree-house nests are comfortable and stylish: cosy bubbles with luxurious creature comforts and great views.
Our four Nests blend seamlessly into the wild outdoors, while paying attention to the creature comforts needed inside for a luxurious nesting and sleeping experience.
Hidden away in the trees, the Chisa Busanga Nests weave together luxury and romance while immersing you in the enchanting wilderness of the Busanga Plains.
One of our rooms is equipped with an electric lift to ensure it is accessible for anyone visiting our mini paradise.

A HIDDEN GEM
The Busanga Plains, secreted away in the northern part of the Kafue National Park in Zambia, is one of the most untouched wilderness areas in Africa. Within its quietness, this wetland ecosystem bristles with diverse life that makes for a special safari experience.
WILD WETLANDS
Red lechwe leaping across shallow wetlands, lions hunting in golden grasses, and elephants emerging out of morning mist – this is the Busanga Plains experience.
Found in the northern region of Zambia’s Kafue National Park, this remote wilderness is distinct from the miombo woodlands of the park. Instead, flat grassland dambos are dotted with date palms and sausage and fig trees.
As the flood waters recede over June to November, the Busanga Plains become accessible for safaris characterised by outstanding game-viewing, predator action and colourful birdlife.
THE HOME OF BUSANGA
Kafue National Park is Zambia’s largest and oldest national park, and is quite possibly one of Africa’s last great expanses of well-protected remote and pristine wilderness.
REMOTE WILDLIFE REFUGE
Largely unexplored with pockets of pristine bush, Kafue National Park is the wild heart of western Zambia.
Kafue was established in the 1950s by the legendary Norman Carr and is the country’s largest and oldest national park.
THE SECRET OF KAFUE NATIONAL PARK
Hidden away in northern Kafue National Park lies the Busanga Plains, a seasonal wetland ecosystem famed for its wide variety of antelope species and large prides of lion.
