Jacana is a typical Delta camp. Surrounded by seasonally-inundated floodplains and papyrus swamps, Jacana has five en-suite Meru-style tents, built on raised wooden decks to take advantage of the views of the broad channels in front. The main dining area is on an elevated platform nestled between two magnificent sycamore fig trees, surrounded by dense wild date palms, with a large viewing deck and open seating area around the fire.

Mokoro Adventures
View Delta life, from mammals to birds and reed frogs, while on a traditional mokoro – Botswana’s traditional dugout canoe.
Birding
Birding is excellent here with plenty of Okavango ‘specials’ including the Pel’s fishing-owl and Endangered wattled crane.
Boating in the Delta
Boating through the waterways to the east of camp allow for good game viewing along the channels.
Explore on land
Game drives are offered when the inundation levels are lower, typically in the summer months. These drives can reveal elephant, zebra and other plains game, and potentially the predators of the area.
Cast your Line
Seasonal fishing with a limited supply of basic equipment (spinner rods and a small range of lures) is offered on a catch-and-release basis.
Wilderness walks
Get your feet on the ground and enjoy a walk through the wilds of the Jao Concession.

Enjoy a true Okavango Delta adventure, as the waters ebb and flow. Lie back in a traditional mokoro as you’re propelled through the reeds, along clear blue serpentine channels, or speed up slightly on a boating excursion. Greet a breeding elephant herd coming to drink. Watch a buffalo herd graze as you quietly breakfast. When the waters are low enough, take a game drive and scan for lion, wild dog, and the elusive leopard. On nature walks, witness an abundance of plains game, including red lechwe, tsessebe, and perhaps the rare sitatunga. Be delighted by sighting avian ‘specials’, such as lesser and African jacana, Pel’s fishing owl, slaty egret, African pygmy-goose, and dozens of others. Share tales around the camp fire long into the star-filled night.
By Air: Jacana is an approximately 35 minute flight from Maun and 1 hr 25 flight to Kasane. It is a 35 minute drive and boat ride to the camp.
