This is the camp for those who want that extra bit of luxury. We’ve kept Governors’ Il Moran small and intimate, with added touches that place this camp at the top of the safari accommodation range. You’ll be the personal guest of our manager who will look after all your needs.

Hidden under ancient trees deep in the forest, are just ten tents which line the winding banks of the Mara River. Dark chunky wooden tables contrast with oversized blue couches and a central, colourfully beaded chandelier, while tribal portraits and African artefacts are dotted around. Meals are served on the raised wooden decking of the main mess and dining tent which offers a birds eye view of the snorting hippos below. The main feature is a sunken fire pit which is lit in the evenings – the perfect spot to sit back with a cocktail of your choice.

How to Get to Governors' Il Moran Camp

There are scheduled flights twice daily from Nairobi Wilson Airport to Musiara Airstrip (taking approximately 45 minutes). There is a meet and greet and transfer with a safari vehicle to the camp in the Masai Mara Game Reserve.

There are scheduled flights from other airports in Kenya such as Nanyuki, Lamu, Samburu, Malindi, Mombassa and Ukunda (Diani) to get you to the Masai Mara Game Reserve as well.

There are charter flights from all airports and airstrips in Kenya to Musiara Airstrip to make your travel to the African lodges in Masai Mara Game Reserve in Kenya as easy as possible.

 Musiara Airstrip is one of the most famous airstrips in Maasai Mara National Reserve, located on the northernmost region of the reserve. It is an all weather gravel airstrip measuring 1,600 metres in length. The geographical coordinates of this airstrip are: S 0117.98 E 3503.92. The airstrip mainly serves Governor's Camp, Little Governor's Camp, Moran Camp, Serian Camp and Neptune Mara Rianta Camp.

GETTING TO CAMP

Daily flights from Nairobi to Masai Mara are available with Governors Aviation and other select airlines.

CHILDREN

We welcome children aged 8 years and over to camp.

ROOM SERVICE

Room service available on request, tea and coffee is served in the tents with the morning wake up call.

LAUNDRY

Arranged daily at no extra cost.

WATER BOTTLE

We would strongly encourage you to please pack your own water bottle which can be refilled as often as you like – we have Reverse Osmosis filtered water dispensers throughout our camps and lodges, which is perfectly safe to drink. This would help us immensely by reducing the amount of plastic waste in these precious wildlife environments.

MEALS

Breakfast is a continental and Full English, lunch is served as a buffet with fresh salads al fresco and dinner is a la carte in the main dining tent. We cater for special diets on request. Bush meals are available to book at an extra cost.

GAME DRIVES

We offer up to three game drives per full day on safari. These take place inside the Masai Mara National Park and in our fleet of new 4-seater Landcruiser safari vehicles. Picnics / packed meals can be provided for those who would like to head out on full or half-day game drives. Snacks and drinks are also provided in the cars.

TENTS

Very spacious luxurious safari tents under canvas, each with private verandah, ensuite bathrooms with bath, large shower, twin basins, flush toilet, running cold and hot water.

TOILETRIES

Please note that we provide a lovely range of ‘Cinnabar Green’ toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, soap and body lotion) in the tents. These products are refilled into reusable metal canisters so as to reduce on plastic waste. They are also handmade in Kenya with natural ingredients and are therefore in keeping with the sensitive environment in which we operate. We urge you to please use our products rather than your own. These toiletries are supplied for the duration of your stay with us, and if you would like to buy some to take onwards with you, we sell the full range in the camp gift shop.

ELECTRICITY AND WIFI

Electric lights in the tents, 220/240 UK Volt plugs for charging cameras and phones. All tents have USB charging ports. We also carry a stock of international plug adapters. Wifi is available in camp.
