Beautiful classic steam locos and carriages, restored by Bushtracks Africa and Rovos Rail, incorporate a classic steam expedition with fine dining provided by Sun International’s Royal Livingstone Restaurant and Chefs.
The train comprises five carriages; Two Dinning Cars, a Kitchen Car, Lounge Car and an Observation Car with Steam Locomotives 10th Class 156 and 12th class 204 built by Northern British Locomotive works in the 1930’s. Loco 156 was renovated by the famous Wildlife Artist David Sheppard and in 1971 donated to Zambia National Heritage and restored again by Bushtracks in 2005. The Beautiful Wembley Dinning Car was built by the Birmingham Railway Carriage and went on display in London at the British Empire Exhibition in 1924. It was shipped to the Union and entered service on 19th May 1926. In honour of its exhibition duties it was renamed the Wembley.
General Information
The Victoria Falls Bridge Run
•This service runs on Saturdays for FITs and groups. Any other day it will have to be min 30Pax-Saturday is a guaranteed run day, we run irrespective, number.
•Private hire – minimum 50 pax
•Canapes Run (Fridays) – Snacks and Drinks only, Minimum 60 pax and Maximum 160 pax.
•The rate is $199pp for Dinner Run & $160pp Canapes Run-Rates includes transfers to and from within Livingstone Town
•For bookings, you could easily walk in to Bushtracks Africa Station. Payments can be made from the office/get a payment link via email. A payment link will attract a 3.85% handling fee
•The train will travel on the “Cape to Cairo” mainline which will then take it to the Victoria Falls Bridge. Once on the mainline the train leaves the outskirts of Livingstone and travels into The Victoria Falls World Heritage Site. Game such as elephant and antelope are often spotted en route to the border post.
•After viewing the falls & seeing the sunset, the train proceeds into the middle of nowhere, where you have a 5-course menu after which you proceed back to the Train Platform between 8-9Pm, for a short transfer back to wherever you will be staying.
•Dress Code: Smart casual
•Children pay full rate (not advisable for children under 12)
•The train will stop on the bridge for approximately 20 minutes and guests will have a chance to disembark from the train at this point.
•A five-course set dinner will be served at the Palm Grove siding for the Dinner Run before heading back to the Bushtracks siding.
•Special dietary requirements need to be communicated in advance.
