The Gof Sokorte Guda lies a beautiful lake, fringed with gorgeous woods home to a diversity of prolific bird and butterfly species. Visitors to the park may also spot the rare Grevy’s Zebra, as well as elephant, rhino, lion, and many other animals. Depart early from Nairobi and drive north past Nanyuki and the beautiful farmlands of Timau to stop for lunch at Isiolo town. After lunch embark on the northern tour with a stopover for photos and sightseeing at Mt. Ololokwe. Proceed to Marsabit, Saku guest house for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Eliye springs, Turkana Basin
Turkana Basin
Dubbed the Cradle of Humanity, the Turkana Basin in northern Kenya and southern Ethiopia is known for its remarkable archaeological significance. While today the area features predominantly arid scrubland and desert, the centre of the basin boasts the spectacular Lake Turkana which provides a haven for an astonishing abundance of exotic wildlife as well as a lifeline to the local community of Turkana, Daasanach, Nyangatom and Pokot peoples. While there are no hotels in the area, renowned Paleontologist Louise Leakey recently made her research institute, the Turkana Basin Institute, accessible to tourists. Visitors can look forward to staying in one of the institute’s two field centres and having one of the world’s foremost palaeontologists guide them exclusively around the world’s finest repository of fossils.

In the morning drive up the mountain to the beautiful lake paradise. You will be in time to see the animals come out for a morning drink and splash.
Later in the morning depart to North Horr a beautiful oasis at the edge of the Chalbi desert. On this day you get to drive through the Chalbi desert. It’s a fun and adventurous ride. Enjoy the beauty and spend the night star gazing. Lunch, dinner and overnight and at basic desert cottages.

Day 3: Tilamari Village Inn, Lake Turkana
Lake Turkana
Situated in the spectacular Kenyan Rift Valley, Lake Turkana is the most saline of Africa’s large lakes. Lake Turkana is a massive inland sea in Kenya’s rugged and harsh northern frontier. It is the world’s largest desert lake and is home to the world’s largest crocodile population. This vast body of bright turquoise water is known as the Jade Sea and its inhospitable surrounds have kept it as one of Kenya’s most remote areas. Visitors can explore the surrounding Lake
Turkana National Parks consisting of three national parks which have been listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This area is also known as an important stopover for migratory birds as well as a breeding area for hippo, snakes and the Nile crocodile.

In the morning embark on the crossing of the Chalbi. The vast landscapes and sand dunes will amaze you. Head out south to Loiyangalani, check in at Tilamari Village Inn. You may visit the lake for sightseeing and sunset.

Day 5: Eliye springs
Matthews Range
Known as one of the wildest areas in the country, the Matthews Range is situated in Kenya’s remote Northern
Frontier. This untouched wilderness is sandwiched between Kenya’s barren northern wastelands and the busier Laikipia safari region. The densely forested slopes of the range are contrasted by the vast, low-lying savannah covered plains surrounding it. The Matthews Range is renowned for its excellent trekking opportunities through untouched natural landscapes featuring crystal-clear mountain streams, natural rock pools, slopes dotted with prehistoric cycads, and rare orchids. It is home to a wide variety of wildlife species including: elephant, buffalo, Leopards, monkey, buck, over 200 bird species and more than 150 species of butterfly. Visit the local Samburu community, enjoy world-class birdwatching and wonderful game viewing.

After breakfast drive South to Ngurunit an oasis surrounded by tens of mountains popularly known as the Ndotos. On the way you get to see the Turkana Wind Farm. The scenery is surreal. After lunch you may take a short walk up the Ndoto streams to some Natural swimming pools for a swim. This is among the most beautiful places in Northern Kenya.
