With no surrounding fence, Konkamoya Lodge integrates seamlessly into the surrounding bush deep in the heart of Kafue National Park.
Each of the four tents is located on a wooden platform a metre above the ground to deter unwanted guests, while inside accommodation mimics a small apartment, complete with bedroom, sitting room, and bathroom with hot and cold running water and shower: comfort and elegance in nature.
East-facing, all tents look across the breezy lake, with marvellous views of the renowned African sunrise. All around are mahogany, ebony, baobabs…
Electricity is guaranteed by a solar system, lighting up tents, recharging batteries and charging wi-fi while being kind to the environment.
The deep roar of a male lion, the grunts of hippos and the distant coo of a Pel’s fishing owl are the only sounds, along with the chatter around the fireplace after an exciting night drive.
Exploring the wild with Konkamoya’s highly experienced guides is like taking a PhD of the bush.
Chef Paul cooks al dente spaghetti with tomato and basil on firewood, followed by scented banana cake in the underground oven.
The property can be made exclusively available to private groups or families looking for that extra attention to detail when it comes to their trip of a lifetime.
TENTS
Four large double tents set on a wooden platform that raises them a metre above the ground sleep a maximum of eight guests. Rectangular in shape, with fold-away flaps for ventilation, the tents are oriented eastward, with views across the lake.
The interiors are apartment-like, with a double bed that can be converted into a twin configuration, a lounge and stylish African fabrics.
All have en-suite showers, toilet and two basin with hot and cold running water.

ACTIVITIES & SERVICES
THE GAME DRIVE
At Konkamoya, providing an authentic wildlife experience is what we are all about!
From the lodge you can see herds of elephant striding majestically past and large groups of antelope grazing nearby.
Game drives are one of the best ways to get close to the wonders of the animal world and our highly qualified guides lead you in comfortable open 4×4 vehicles.
On these morning and afternoon expeditions you will see four of the park's Big Five (elephant, lion, leopard and buffalo) as well as a variety of other animals including cheetah, pangolin, aardvark and the magnificent wild dog.
The birdlife of Kafue National Park is also spectacular, with an exceptionally diverse list of over 560 species found in the area, including two that are very special to Zambia - the Zambian Barbet (Chaplin's Barbet), which is endemic to the area around the park, and the national bird, the African Fish Eagle. Our guides will be happy to share their knowledge and experience with you as your adventure unfolds.
The morning game drive includes a stop for coffee or tea and a snack in an area of outstanding natural beauty, while the afternoon game drive pauses to enjoy the magnificent African sunset over a drink before continuing the search for these shy nocturnal animals under the starry sky.
THE KONKAMOYA RESTAURANT
According to The Financial Times, we definitely offer a delicious gourmet experience in the Kafue National Park.
International, Zambian and Italian specialties are prepared by our chefs every day. Meat, fish and crayfish cooked to your tastes, homemade gnocchi and tagliatelle, pizza and bread in a wood oven, traditional Zambian recipes… We love fresh food and we want to support local micro-economy.
Special requirements, like vegetarian meals or coeliac diet, can be catered for. And we can always organize a cooking class with our chefs if you want to learn how to prepare one of our specialties.
ZAMBIA
This unique, peanut-shaped country, once known as Northern Rhodesia, offers visitors an authentic African experience complete with adrenalin pumping adventure sports, a variety of fascinating cultural activities, and an abundance of indigenous wildlife which finds refuge in Zambia’s vast national parks. Spend your evenings enjoying the spectacular site of the world’s largest waterfall, the Victoria Falls, while sipping on sundowners after an exhilarating day of whitewater rafting down the rapids of the mighty Zambezi River. If that sounds a little too adventurous for your taste, take a houseboat cruise along the exquisite Lake Kariba while watching wild elephants drink at the riverbank as you try your hand at catching the elusive tiger fish. However you choose to spend your time in this unique country, you are bound to leave with a heavy heart and a desire to return again soon to this exceptionally beautiful Southern African country.
CENTRAL KAFUE, ZAMBIA
DAYS 1 - 4 Set in Zambia, the Kafue National Park is the largest park in the country and the second-largest in Africa. The contrasting landscape of the Central Kafue features riverine bush, miombo and savannah woodlands, vast open plains and majestic granite outcrops. Visitors can enjoy the pristine natural beauty of the diverse scenery and its natural, unspoilt beauty. Drive along the Spinal Road for a chance to discover the most remote parts of the Central Kafue National Park. Don't miss the opportunity to spot a wide range of African wildlife with regular sightings of puku, impala and bushbuck and catch a glimpse of the countless bird species that call this area home.
SOUTHERN KAFUE, ZAMBIA
DAYS 4 - 7
The southern section of the vast Kafue National Park is composed of a slender strip that stretches for almost 200 kilometres, bordered by the Kafue River and Itezhi-Tezhi Dam to the east. Though game is not quite as prolific as in the northern section of the park, southern Kafue takes in some strikingly beautiful places, such as the mystical Ngoma Forest, one of the few places where Zambezi teak trees still grow to maturity undisturbed by loggers. The forest is at its most magnificent between December and March, when the trees burst into a profusion of pink flowers.
