WELCOME TO KAYA MAWA
On the white sandy beaches of Likoma Island sits Kaya Mawa, a boutique lodge that welcomes honeymooners, families and friends for an indulgently carefree getaway.
Meaning ‘maybe tomorrow’ in Chichewa/Nyanja, the ethos of Kaya Mawa is in its name. Relaxed lakeside living is woven into the style, luxury and comfort of its Houses and Rooms. Dinner by starlight, massage therapy at our spa, and snorkelling in turquoise waters – it’s just another blissful day at Kaya.
Built by local hands and as Malawi’s first resort run solely on renewable-energy, Kaya Mawa is firmly grounded in sustainability, community empowerment and ethical trade.
While each of the 11 Houses and Rooms have distinctive flair, all are designed to fit naturally into the bay’s rocks and sand. The white-washed or exposed stone interiors open out to lake and beach views, with some suites enjoying a private deck and plunge pool or even terrace, courtyard and dining areas
Malawi is fondly known as the Warm Heart of Africa for its friendly people and sunny days, which you find in abundance on Likoma Island in Lake Malawi. This is one of the world’s deepest lakes and its freshwater teems with aquatic life, including 400 species of cichlid fish.

END OF ITINERARY
Learn about the area specific to this safari package
South Luangwa National Park
The South Luangwa is probably the most famous of all Zambia’s wildlife havens and is deservedly considered amongst the elite of African wilderness regions. Fantastic leopard populations, hippo, lion and elephant are complimented by a healthy range of other species too.
Luambe National Park
Luambe National Parkis located on the eastern bank of the Luangwa River, halfway between South and North Luangwa National Park and is one of the oldest protected areas in Zambia.
Because of its remote location on the eastern bank of the Luangwa river, the Park has remained essentially unchanged – largely because it’s off the beaten track, a secluded, tranquil place not covered by the usual tourist routes. Luambe is situated between the larger Luangwa national parks to its north and south, however, to those who visit it Luambe is often considered to be the jewel in the crown.
Lake Malawi & Lokomo Island
Lake Malawi is the jewel in the crown of the country’s tourist attractions. This is the ‘inland sea’ of the otherwise land-locked Malawi. This vast body of crystal clear freshwater fringed by beaches of golden sand is not only a scenic wonderland but it provides water sport opportunities for those looking for something beyond sun, sand and swimming. Lake Malawi is a wonderland that offers all types of water sports and activities expected of any tropical beach destination. There are boats and boards of all types available to have fun with and to explore the waters, islands and beaches of the lake.
